2012 Brazil Serie B Season Review

Brazil Serie B has traditionally been a yo-yo league although 2012 was different with only Atletico Paranaense who were relegated from Serie A the season before. They are joined by 2012 Serie B champions Goias, Circiuma, and Vitoria who were promoted over Sao Caeteno despite attaining the same amount of points. Due to financial constraints of the league Brazil Serie B teams includes a combinations of older players and young prospects some on loan from more established Serie A clubs. An example of this is 29 year old Ze Carlos who has played on 15 clubs in his career including in South Korea and Japan was the leagues leading scorer with 27 goals and 10 assists although other players who excelled have a much brighter future including prospects Ricardo Goulart, Lucca, Alex Alves and Willie who should play for Brazil's World Youth Championship in Turkey later this year.
