2011-2012 Saudi Premier League Review

As traditional powers Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad struggled during the 2011-2012 season, Al-Shabab became fully deserved champions winning the league by going undefeated. Al-Shabab was lead by Al-Shamrani who scored 21 goals and was tied for the league top goalscorer with Brazilian Victor Simoes. Simoes plays for Al-Ahli who finished in second place two points behind Al-Shabab. Al-Hilal finished 3rd and Al-Ittihad 5th as both clubs went through a transitional period of great turnover although despite their troubles in the league both clubs have been successful so far during the 2012 AFC Champions League, making it to the quarter-finals.
