2011-2012 South Africa PSL Review

Much of the 2011-2012 South Africa PSL title race revolved around two veteran Bafana Bafana strike partners. Siyabonga Nomvethe led the league in goals with 20, eight more than any other player, although his club Moroska Swallows finished second in the league to the Orlando Pirates and Benni McCarthy. McCarthy returned to South African club soccer for the first time in 16 years after scoring close to 150 goals in Europe. Hopefully players such as McCarthy and international Bernard Parker will increase interest in the domestic game. So far attendance has risen slightly since the World Cup although there still cases of clubs averaging only 10% of their current stadium capacity.
